Family History

In the fall of 2018, I received a text message out of the blue from an unknown sender. Now most of us would simply delete as spam, but as a professional genealogist I was accustomed to cryptic questions. Keith Winstead of Louisville had seen a post I had recently shared on social media about Archer Alexander being the ancestor of Muhammad Ali, and was asking if I knew where Archer was buried.

As an author, my previous books were filled with Missouri’s local history, German immigrants, and stories of the Civil War. I knew the story of Archer Alexander, or so I thought.

Its’ been an amazing journey we’ve learned so much, and I can’t wait to share this amazing story in my next book. Here is a look back at when the journey began…
