The National Park Service will hold an event to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Memorial on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from Noon until 5 pm in Lincoln Park in Washington DC. Lincoln Park will open at noon, and events will go on until 5pm. There will be music by the Washington City Brass Band, Children’s Activities, Mini Tours, Historical People – Charlotte Scott, U.S. Grant, and Frederick Douglass, an unveiling program like the original one in 1876, and a Panel Discussion – The moderator will be Ida E. Jones, (panel is Kenny Burns,David Kent and Dorris Keeven-Franke) and it will conclude with a wreath laying by by an Alexander descendant, Donovan Cox. This is a free event and the public is invited.
