September events

September is National Underground Railroad Month, and we are going to start the month off with Dorris Keeven-Franke sharing the story of Archer Alexander’s treacherous escape in February 1863 at Howell’s Ferry with sixteen other freedom seekers using the Network to Freedom. Join us on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Central, or 8:00 p.m. Eastern for UNDERGROUND. This is a virtual program that everyone can watch at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82263488262 from anywhere. (No one will be admitted after the program begins.)

On Sunday, September 22, 2024 join us for a Jubilee at 1:00 p.m. at the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site for Archer Alexander at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery (2101 Lucas and Hunt Avenue in St. Louis) as we celebrate his Day of Freedom! Come hear Louisa (actress Peggy Neely Harris) share the story of her husband Archer, at the site of the new Archer Alexander Memorial. This event is open to the public and everyone is welcome. Please bring your lawn chairs or blankets for this event.

We look forward to these events and do hope that you will join us and share with your friends and family. Everyone is welcome.
